On-Post Housing

Yard Service for Fort Benning Housing Residents

Fort Benning was named Fort Moore from 2023 to 2025 and was redesignated Fort Benning on March 3, 2025, for Corporal Fred Benning. Whichever name you search, the housing communities on post are the same, and so are the rules that come with them.

On-post housing publishes a written pet policy, and it is not vague. Residents are required to dispose of pet waste in their fenced backyards daily, carry a bag when walking a dog, and clean the yard at move-out. The published fine schedule includes a per-incident fine for not cleaning up and a per-day fine for any pet policy violation that continues until it is corrected. On top of that, the pet deposit is refundable only if the yard comes back clean. That is a lot of exposure riding on a chore that gets skipped during field problems, deployments, and the last two weeks before a PCS.

A weekly route removes it. We pick up every pile, double bag it, and leave the yard the way an inspection wants to see it, with a notification after every visit. Twice weekly for multiple dogs. One-time cleanups before a move-out inspection or a housing walk. No contract, so when orders come, the service stops when you do.

Around the Installation

Apartments, HOAs, and Hotels Near Fort Benning

Apartment Communities

South Columbus and the Victory Drive corridor house a lot of Fort Benning families, and a lot of their dogs. Scheduled common area cleanup, dog park maintenance, and station service, with an after-service report after every visit.

Pet-Friendly Hotels

Extended stay and select service properties near the gates sell the pet fee and then live with the relief area. We service the designated relief area and pet-accessible grounds on a schedule and keep the bags stocked.

Neighborhood HOAs

Subdivisions on the south and east side that house Fort Benning families get common area and trail service and a report the board can file.

Station Supply

Stations, bag dispensers, and signage supplied and installed where they actually reduce waste on the ground, then restocked every visit.

Why It Matters Here

Turnover, Inspections, and the Ground Itself

Military housing turns over faster than anything in Columbus. Every move-out is an inspection, and every inspection starts with the yard. A property that is clean on schedule has nothing to argue about at move-out, and a resident who is clean on schedule gets the deposit back.

The ground does not care about the calendar either. The CDC says to pick up after dogs every time because of roundworm and hookworm. Roundworm eggs need two to four weeks in soil to become infective, and hookworm larvae in soil can penetrate bare skin. In a housing area where kids play in every yard, a weekly route is the difference.
